NVC INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP: JULY 20-26
The intention is to bring people together from the West of our globe and the local people from Rusinga Island, plus people from other parts of Kenya (maximum 30 participants).
*
Learn how to live in daily life and spread NVC
*Connect people from different cultures, to get to know, share and appreciate the gifts of different cultures (for example when I was there in September 2007 we wondered why people didn’t hear demands instead of requests. The answer was simple: please translates in their language literally "Are you willing....?"
*
Create sustainable connections between participants to build an international community for mutual exchange and support
*
Support the Eco Village network on Rusinga Island to become a beacon in the community to improve the wellbeing of the 20,000 Islanders who are currently surviving at a subsistence level. Over the past 2 years this ongoing NVC project has empowered more and more people with the tools to lead nonviolent lives through: affirmation, respect for all with strategies for conflict resolution, community building, and cooperation. All these skills are supporting them to make a difference in the way they work the land together to reverse the trend of environmental degradation.
Costs: The training fees will be 240€ (about 360$ or £160 GB pound) including accommodation and food.
Cut-off date for payment: May 15th, 2008
For participants from inside the EU: We will let you know an account number when you apply. From other countries, we will find out which would be the best way to transfer the money.

PERM CULTURE FARMING PROJECT
Currently the foundation maintains contact with local farmers. We are sharing with them Organic Farming practices which include how to make compost, safe ways of controlling pests without using pesticides, garden design, ways to stop soil erosion. We focus on the education of a healthy ecosystem and the importance of contributing to clean water, biodiversity, soil improvement and greater yield.
Badilisha is optimistic about establishing a model farm in collaboration with a local primary school, Kaswanga. The children at this school are from poor families and unable to afford food. The goal is to combined a working permaculture garden with the feeding of these children. Some donations have been received towards this project, however we have not been able to meet all the costs and additional donations are needed to continue this project. If you are willing to contribute to this project please contact evans@badilisha.org
